Could there be something wrong with this SHO?

I managed to squeeze some time in early today so far to go take a look at this 2010 SHO. It has 90,000 on the odo and is only $14,988.

The interior was pretty clean. Looked to be one owner. Like the LS460 yesterday. I’m concerned about the Ecoboost reliability at this many miles. I like this gen of Taurus, but hate how the interior is smaller than the outside gives away. We all know Taurus are good family cars however and I think this is a good sleeper. I would try to mod it too to get more power out of it. Any concerns with this gen of SHO?

I’d be slightly concerned about how little wheels have moved and how far the steering wheel has.

Priced about right. Probably can get it for $1-2k less than that. It’s a 7 year old car with 90,000 miles that cost around $40,000 new. Just about everything similar is also going to be priced around $15k. Go check the prices on something like a 2010 335i with 90,000 miles and they will be in the same ballpark as this.

Price seems right. We took in a black one with a hair over 100k for $11k

PTU was leaking, tires were bald, and the struts were noisy... so for $14k it should need next to nothing.

The price is right in the middle of what to expect from a dealer for that mileage. Why would you call it “only” $15k?

The common issue with these seen to be the transmissions. They don’t fail or anything but they do start shifting kinda hard.

Like everyone else is saying that’s about right. A general rule of thumb for car depreciation is that they lose ~40-50% of their sale price every 5 years. So for a $40k car new that’s 7 years old, $15k is dead nuts on that target.

Thanks for that. I thought that it was a little low for this but glad it's not.

The PTU is about to grenade probably.

It can become really agressive, almost thunking into gear. It’s like something wears out so that the next gear engages too quickly and the engine doesn’t have time to rev match. I don’t know how common it is with stock cars but my karate instructors which was chipped to 400hp was really rough at 60k mi. It’s something you would notice when you drive it.

I actually thought these were pretty big inside after sitting in them at auto shows; I’m a tall dude. But I think that’s a good price. Ford reliability is risky to me, especially considering the issues my Ranger has had since its 2008 purchase.
